3일 서울 여의도 모 호텔에서 전국경제인연합회 회장단 만찬이 비공개로 개최됐다. 만찬에서는 차기 회장 선출과 전경련 발전 방안에 관한 논의가 이뤄졌다. 왼쪽부터 김병준 전경련 회장 대행, 김윤 삼양홀딩스 회장, 류진 풍산그룹 회장, 이장한 종근당 회장. 김호영 기자폭염이 한창이던 3일 저녁 서울 여의도의 한 호텔. 전국경제인연합회 회장단이 차례차례 로비에 들어섰다. 류진 풍산그룹 회장은 호텔에 들어서자마자 1층 카페에서 아이스 카페라테를 주문해 마신 후 7층 레스토랑으로 올라갔다. 7층 룸에서는 김병준 전경련 회장 대행과 4명의 부회장이 시원한 화이트 와인과 함께 식사를 시작했다. 이들은 오는 22일 총회를 앞두고 이날 모임에서 차기 회장 등 전경련 현안을 논의했다.3일 재계에 따르면 전경련 회장단 만찬이 이날 오후 서울 여의도에서 진행됐다. 만찬에는 김병준 대행과 이웅열 코오롱 명예회장, 김윤 삼양홀딩스 회장, 류진 회장, 이장한 종근당 회장이 참석했다. 신동빈 롯데그룹 회장, 김승연 한화그룹 회장, 허태수 GS그룹 회장 등은 불참했다.이날 회의 주제는 차기 회장과 전경련의 발전 방향이었다. 김 대행은 최근 "8월 초 회장단 회의에서 (차기 회장 후보자에 대한) 의견을 물어볼 예정"이라고 밝힌 바 있다. 김 대행 임기는 이달 말까지로, 차기 회장으로는 류진 회장이 유력한 것으로 알려졌다. 류 회장은 이날 매일경제 기자와 만난 자리에서 차기 회장으로서의 계획이 있느냐는 질문에 허허 웃으며 "아직 없다. 결정된 것이 없다"고 말했다.류 회장은 한미재계회의 위원장이며, 넓은 미국 네트워크를 지녔다. 2020년 국제전략문제연구소(CSIS) 이사회에 합류했으며, 지난해 한미 친선단체 코리아소사이어티로부터 밴플리트상을 수상했다. 당시 조지 W 부시 전 미국 대통령이 행사장을 방문해 류 회장의 수상을 축하해줬다. 그는 올해 4월 윤석열 대통령의 미국 국빈방문에 동행해 CSIS와 한국 경제계와의 오찬 간담회 등을 직접 마련하기도 했다. 전경련은 오는 22일 임시총회에서 회장 선임과 명칭 변경 안건을 다룰 예정이다.
