이소민 에이치피오 경영총괄부문 매니저가 트루바이타민을 들어보이고 있다. 윤현주 기자2021년 7월 21일 주가가 장중 고점인 2만219원을 기록했으나, 2년여 만에 반토막 난 종목이 있다. 이 종목은 에이치피오. 한국거래소에 따르면 5일 종가는 9050원. 2년 손실률은 55.24%다. 증권업계에서는 건강기능식품 시장의 진입장벽이 낮아 업체 간 치열한 경쟁 탓에 주가가 하락한 것으로 보고 있다.

에이치피오 주가 월봉 그래프 캡처.하지만 실적은 매년 우상향을 기록하고 있다. 이에 지난 4일 서울 용산구 이태원로 270에 있는 에이치피오 한남동 사무실을 찾았다. 본사는 영등포에 있는데 홈쇼핑 영업, 브랜드 큐레이션을 담당하는 10여 명 정도가 있다. 한남동 사무실은 국내 마케팅 사업부, 경영전략부, 해외전략사업부 등 60여 명이 근무한다. 사실상 에이치피오의 사령부인 셈이다.

서울 용산구 이태원로 270에 위치한 에이치피오 한남동 사무실. 이 빌딩 2~3층에서 60여명의 직원들이 근무하고 있다. 윤현주 기자 “건강기능식품 회사서 건강생활 기업으로 도약할 것”이곳에서 민택근 부회장을 만났다. 그는 태광그룹 티알엔 대표를 6년간 역임한 전문경영인으로 3월1일 업무를 시작했다. 언론사 인터뷰는 이번이 처음이다. 민 부회장은 “에이치피오는 2012년 설립된 회사로 프리미엄 건강기능식품 ‘덴프스’(Denps)를 기반으로 국내와 중국, 아시아와 유럽에서 인지도를 쌓고 있다”며 “글로벌 건강생활 기업 P&G(프록터&갬블)처럼 성장하려 노력하고 있다”고 포부를 밝혔다. 이를 위해 회사의 큰 틀을 건강, 유·아동브랜드, 신사업, 생활용품으로 나누고 있다. 특히 건강 부문에서는 대표 브랜드 ‘덴마크유산균이야기’가 10여년간 누적 판매량 1300만개를 돌파했을 정도로 인기가 많다.
