LG CNS 사장 출신 '재무통'6개월 경영공백 마무리 수순

KT 이사회가 4일 차기 대표 후보로 김영섭 전 LG CNS 사장을 확정했다. KT 이사회는 4일 김 전 사장을 KT의 차기 대표이사 후보로 확정했다고 발표했다. KT 사외이사 8명으로 구성된 이사후보추천위원회는 이날 김 전 사장과 박윤영 전 KT 사장, 차상균 서울대 교수 등 3명의 후보자별 심층 면접을 한 뒤 김 전 사장을 최종 대표이사 후보로 선정했다. 이사회는 김 후보를 이달 말 임시 주주총회에 추천하는 안건을 결의했다.

윤종수 KT 이사회 의장은 “김 후보는 기업 경영 경험과 정보통신기술(ICT) 전문성을 바탕으로 급변하는 시장 환경에서 KT가 글로벌 디지털 플랫폼 기업으로 성장하기 위한 미래 비전과 중장기 기업가치 제고를 위한 구체적인 실행 전략을 명확히 제시했다”고 선정 배경을 밝혔다. 또 “변화와 혁신을 주도할 수 있는 경영체계 정착 및 기업문화 개선 의지가 뛰어나 향후 KT 미래 성장을 견인할 것으로 평가했다”고 덧붙였다.김 후보는 이달 말 임시 주총 승인을 거쳐 KT 대표로 공식 취임하게 된다. 주총에서 의결권 있는 주식의 60% 이상이 찬성해야 한다. 지난 3월 말 기준 KT의 1대 주주는 8.27% 지분을 보유한 국민연금공단이다. 현대자동차그룹(7.79%), 신한은행(5.57%) 등이 뒤를 잇는다. 임기는 2026년 정기 주총까지 2년7개월이다.'글로벌 KT' 재시동…디지털·AI로 내수 통신기업 한계 넘는다초거대 AI '믿음' 10월께 출시…AI 플랫폼 사업 가속화 전망
