작년比 21%↑…영업익 1940억활성 고객 2000만명 돌파 눈앞“하반기 신사업에 4억달러 투자”

쿠팡쿠팡이 4개 분기 연속 흑자 달성에 성공했다. 매출과 영업이익, 활성 고객수 모두 사상 최대다. e커머스 시장 주도권을 쥔 쿠팡은 올해 흑자 행진을 이어가며 국내 유통시장에서 외형과 내실을 겸비한 기업으로 우뚝선다. 쿠팡은 대만 사업과 쿠팡플레이, 쿠팡이츠 등 신성장 사업 투자도 지속한다.9일 미국증권거래위원회(SEC)에 따르면 쿠팡의 2분기 매출은 전년 동기(6조3500억원) 대비 21% 늘어난 7조6749억원(58억3788만달러)을 기록했다. 같은 기간 영업이익은 1940억원(1억4764만달러)을 기록했다. 올해 최대 분기 영업이익으로 전분기(1362억원)보다 42% 늘었다.당기순이익도 역대 최대인 1908억원(1억4519만달러)을 기록해 전분기(1160억원·9085만달러)보다 크게 증가했다. 지난해 2분기 영업손실 847억원, 당기순손실 952억원을 기록한 점을 감안하면 1년 만에 괄목할 만한 수익성 개선으로 흑자전환한 것이다.쿠팡의 활성 고객(분기에 제품을 한번이라도 구매한 고객)은 1971만명으로 나타났다. 이는 전년 동기(1788만명)와 비교해 10% 늘며 2000만명을 목전에 뒀다. 쿠팡의 1인당 고객 매출은 296달러(38만9100원)로 전년 대비 5% 증가한 것으로 나타났다.

쿠팡이 외형 성장과 수익성을 모두 챙길 수 있었던 배경에는 수년 간 이어진 물류·유통망 투자에 따른 운영효율화가 있다.김범석 쿠팡Inc 의장은 이날 콘퍼런스콜에서 “다년간 독보적 투자와 고객 경험, 운영 탁월성 양쪽에 집중한 끝에 수익성과 지속적인 고성장을 놓치지 않고 달성했다”고 말했다. 쿠팡의 2분기 매출 총이익은 전년 대비 32% 증가한 15억2378만달러이며 마진율은 5.1%다.쿠팡은 이번 2분기 수익성 개선 흐름 속도가 더 빨라졌다. 지난 12개월 누적 기준 20억달러의 영업현금흐름과 11억달러의 잉여 현금흐름을 창출했다. 쿠팡은 지난 1분기 사상 처음으로 12개월 기준 잉여현금흐름 4억5100만달러를 기록하며 개선됐고, 2분기에 지표 개선 속도가 빨라졌다.
